MISSION OF THE GEORGE WASHINGTON CHAPTER Recognize the Service of the Patriots Who risked life, liberty, or property to help bring the Constitutional Republic of the United States into existence by celebrating their achievements and identifying and marking their graves. Educate the Public About the American Revolutionary War Through public outreach and participation in community events such as Alexandria, Virginia’s George Washington Birthday Parade. Encourage Good Citizenship Through outreach to youth organizations including the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), Boy Scouts, and Eagle Scouts, and by expanding understanding of our country’s history through youth programs such as the Joseph H. Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest, the George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest, and classroom presentations. Publicly Recognize the Public Service Provided by outstanding law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel. Recognize the Service to the Nation of the Veterans of Armed Forces of the United States United States military veterans served a higher cause. The sense of Service that permeated their presence will be honored. |
